Standardization of wound care for patients in Austria, Germany and Slovakia

Overview
In German-speaking countries, wound care and treatment is improving and standardizing. In this review article, based on an intentional selection, have been analyzed the content of professional guidelines and recommendations in wound care, particularly over the last decade. The standards, policies and operating procedures are systematically developed and made available primarily by professional organizations. A standardized procedure for wound care was also developed in Slovakia. In addition to the diagnosis and local treatment of wounds, clinically appropriate methods have been developed to identify and improve the quality of life of people with wounds.
